She Sells Dirt In A Skirt

And her name is Jane Page Thompson.  I am her assistant.    Jane Page WORKED HARD / STUDIED HARD - AND EARNED HER ALC DESIGNATION.

For those that don't know, an ALC is an Accredited Land Consultant.  And they don't just hand out those designations.

The following description of ALC is a portion of one of my previous postsAlphabet Soup...

ALC = Accredited Land Consultant.     alc logo      This is not an easy one to get - and there are not that many Realtors our there who have earned this designation.  There are ONLY 412 REALTORS Nationwide that hold the coveted designation fo Accredited Land Consultant.  THe additional education required amounts to several hundreds of hours, andmega sales experience in multiple land sales.  I know, because the agent that I assist is an ALC - and it does not happen overnight, or over a 2 hour online course.  This is a designation that could take YEARS to earn.  And even thenthey don't just give it to you.  You have to have the sales experience to back up what you have been learning over the past couple years.  NOT ALL REALTORS ARE AN ACCREDITED LAND CONSULTANT.  And it doesn't matter what size piece of land you are buying (or selling).  To find an ALC in your area, you can go to:  http://www.rliland.com/MemberSearch/SearchForm.aspx (Realtors Land Institute)

Layer in the crock pot -    boneless center cut pork chops -  sliced potatoes - cheddar cheese.    Then pour a can of Cream of Celery Soup over it.   It may not sound that great....but believe me it is really good!

I call this one:  Scalloped Pork Chops!

Let me know if you try it :)

If walls could talk

...imagine the stories they would tell.   Take this house for instance, it was built in 1887.   That is a lot of births, deaths, weddings, cotillions, parties, holidays.....   not to mention all of the secrets being shared between friends, the family dinner conversations, overheard late night calls to secret lovers......  !

When I walk into one of these grand historic homes, that is all I can think about.  I imagine brides walking down the beautiful staircase.......

I imagine all the talks in the kitchen between friends...

  gossip poster                   kitchen

.....I imagine fathers pacing downstairs in the foyer  sandhurst foyer- waiting the arrival of their new baby....

Not to mention, fathers pacing while waiting for their teenage daughters to come home from the prom, haha.

Think of all the grand parties - everyone in their best dress.....   1900 women's fashions

yes, my imagination really wanders when I look at a house like this.

If walls could talk...what stories would they tell?

Sandhurst Estate in Historic Aiken, South Carolina.

sandhurst estate aiken south carolina  This is Sandhurst.

Does the design of the front look a little bit familiar with the Corinthian columns?

Have you seen a picture of The Vanderbilt mansion on The Hudson River?  Here, take a look!

vanderbilt summer mansion on the hudson river

Both designed by Stanford White.    Mr. White had a rich and full career.  His designs varied from the summer homes of The Astor's and The Vanderbilt's to the New York Herald Building and Madison Square Garden.         Pictures of some of his designs.

Sandhurst is a spectacular home.  Large scale rooms open to magnolia shaded terraces.  Marble baths, hardwood wainscoting and floors, high ceilings are a few of the Gilded Age accents throughout this Winter Colony Estate.

Built in 1887, Sandhurst is a contributing home in Aiken's Historic District and sits on 5 acres with a barn and paddocks. The 10,500 square foot residence has 11 bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms and 10 fireplaces throughout the 3 finished floors.

Once a Bed & Breakfast, Sandhurst has welcomed guests from around the globe and has hosted many fundraising events.  Next door is Hopelands Gardens and Aiken's Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame      and just steps away the 2,000 acre Hitchcock Woods  are there to enjoy on foot or astride.

Sandhurst is another beautiful home in Aiken's historic landscape.   -   And it's for sale!!

Yes, you could own this remarkable piece of history!

                                                   corn field

Yes, this is a picture of a cornfield.   There is an old saying in The Garden State:   'Knee high by the 4th of July'.   This is referring to the height of the corn stalks!  Yes!    Rule of thumb so to speak :)

Enjoy the holiday, everyone.  Be safe.   Please don't drink and drive.

A Human Statue of Liberty

It's amazing that this photo, taken so many years ago, actually still exists!  Who even thought to do this?  This INCREDIBLE picture was taken in 1918.  It is 18,000 men preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge in Iowa.   EIGHTEEN THOUSAND MEN!!!     What a priceless gift from our grandfathers.

In celebrating our independence tomorrow....let's also celebrate the men and women who are protecting our freedom every single day.  Thank you.

This is the Nike Peach Jam Invitational 2008.   It happens EVERY year....and it's a pretty BIG DEAL!!!

These ball players are some of the best male high school players in the nation.  Playing their hearts out, in the hopes to be noticed and recruited.
