The Jazz Corner

As some of you know, I'm on vacation this week - woo hoo!!    A friend from the mainland came to visit me yesterday and we went to her favorite place - The Jazz Corner.

What a great place!!!   I'm sure to go back there again.

We had a delicious dinner with LIVE ENTERTAINMENT.   (I had the baked chicken and it was yummy!!)   The atmosphere was great - the service was great - the entertainment was great - the trumpet player was my favorite, but Bobby sure can play that saxophone (if I could only play half as good as he does...ahhh to dream)

  Nothing beats live music!

This weekend the Bobby Ryder quintet is playing and they are really good.

Next time you are on the island - check it out!  Live music EVERY NIGHT :)

You don't have to read this if you don't want to - but please listen to the song, and remember

You don't have to read this if you don't want to - but PLEASE at least listen to the song...AND REMEMBER. Thanks.

September 11.     I cried this morning, for the world.  I didn't think about the date yesterday.  But when I woke up this morning, it was in my heart.  I didn't have to look at a calendar to know.   I lit a candle, said a prayer, cried some more, and here I am.  (still crying, by the way)

                         candles flickering

I am crying for everyone.  Those lost - those left behind - those who protected us - those who died in the line of duty - the scared - the lonely - the families - the friends...

 twin towers at night.

I don't have to tell you that I will always remember where I was when news broke of the first plane crashing into the tower.  Everyone over the age of 12 probably remembers where they were.

I don't have to tell you that I was very worried about family working in the towers. Everyone knew someone working there.  (I'm from Jersey, remember)

I don't have to tell you that I was very scared for our country.  Who wasn't?

I do have to tell you that I will never forgetNever.

Please listen to this song with me. (recorded one year after that tragic day)

CLICK HERE FOR SONG!  Please listen.

Thank you.

Don't wait till halftime to eat!

Hi Everyone -       didn't want you to miss the most recent entry in our Polo Series!             Thanks Gene for all your help with this :)

Via Gene Mock:

Are you wondering what to wear to a polo match?

POLO 101: A series! (AKA:  Polo:  So much to learn, So little time!)   Provided together by Kara Casamassina and Gene Mock, The Carolina Real Estate Company, Aiken SC.

Polo in Aiken is an outdoor sport so dress according to the weather. You really can't be over or under dressed. People will be wearing everything from jeans to high fashion.

If the polo match you're attending is a major tournament, charity benefit match or special event, you may want to dress up.

At halftime it is time to help put the field back together and stomp divots.  For health reasons it is a good idea to wear shoes! And a hat for protection from the sun :)  Other than that, be comfortable. And have fun.  Bring your beverage and a friend and go out at halftime and stomp some divots.

new bridge polo - divot stomping

Divot stomping is a long standing tradition at half-time. Spectators wander all over the field stomping down the torn up turf. It's fun and you can meet great people just wandering the field. Even at high goal tournaments the players often walk divots to keep limber at the half, and often they take breaks or change ponies close to the stands.

Many times you can say hello to the best polo athletes in the world. Just remember not too be too distracting, these are athletes who need to get back to work.  There will be plenty of time AFTER the match to mingle with the players, get autographs, pictures, etc.
