...when it comes to how we spend our vacations we are totally different.
My sister is on vacation right now - in beautiful Cape Cod.
This is her itinerary for her visit (one week):
- trolley tour around town
- harbor tour - depending on the weather - maybe take in the zooquariam.
- cape cod potato chip factory (fun!!)
- lunch on a sightseeing train. (this sounds cool!)
- whale watch
- side trip to Boston
- harbor again
- glass blowing museum
- beach - maybe
- miniature golf

I just got back from beautiful Hilton Head Island.
This was my itinerary for my visit (one week):
- relax on the beach
THINGS YOU COULD DO ON THE ISLAND
- visit a lighthouse
- take a dolphin watch cruise
- sunset dinner cruise
- trail ride at Lawson Stables
- play golf
- take the ferry to Dafauskie Island
- jet ski, parasail and other water fun!
- visit the museum
- historic Beaufort and Bluffton are right there, too
- side trip to Savannah - more history :)
- canoe or kayak your way over the water
- shopping shopping shopping - the Tanger Outlets are right across the bridge in Bluffton.
- fishing
- spas
- and so much more!
I came back nice and relaxed from my vacation - - -I think my sister will need a vacation to get over her vacation, lol.

Hi Kara,
I have two daughters that are like night and day. One would love to live in a Igloo and the other I'm sure she would go to the beach everyday if she could.
;>)
Sounds like me and my sis - we share almost none of the same opinions!
A weekend trip to the beach is to relax. You need one every year (some years every month). But a trip to a new place HAS to be filled with lots of sightseeing. It can be as relaxing as laying on the beach!
If you ever want to go on vacation together, try a cruise. Being out at sea will force her to relax by the pool with you, and surely you can handle sightseeing with her in one day bursts.
I have three daughters. They are all so different, but that is what makes them close.
Kara - your idea of a vacation is my idea of a vacation. Your sister's vacation makes me tired just reading about it!
Isn't it amazing how different two siblings can be! Same genes, same environment... a mystery.
Kara,
Very informative post. That is if someone actually cares about your and your sister's vacation preferences. Maybe I missed something but how does it relate to the real estate business?
Kara, I could use your plan right now----not your sister's:)
I just spent 2 weeks in Provincetown on Cape Cod. For me it was beach, beach and beach!
Thanks for the comments everyone! As you can tell, I'd rather relax the time away on the beach. I do like to visit new places - - but I'd rather do that as the occasional weekend trip, lol.
Peter - have you ever heard of a little thing called Localism? that is how this relates to real estate!
Have a great day everyone :)
I like to mix it up with a little to do stuff and a lot of relaxing but my family always wants to DO SOMETHING 'cause they are bored. I think I would love to just lie on the beach for a week but they would not let me. Glad you had a good trip
Ahhh - the advantage of going by yourself, Paddy! I did do some shopping (of course!), and had a fun night out with a friend, but the bulk of my time was spent with my toes in the sand and book in hand :)
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing....I like a mixture but my husband is one of those always on the go kind of vacationers. So I never get to just relax on the beach....
I will have to try this solo thing someday. Sounds kind of good right now as I finish the laundry and try to figure out how to catch up with my house before I go to the office today
I hear ya Paddy - I don't think I'll ever get caught up. I mean - we LIVE in our homes, right ! Have a good day :)
Hi Jane. Thanks for stopping by. I don't mind doing some sightseeing - - - but I live to be a beach bum, haha. Have a good night :)
saw that Paddy did a link to your post- love this, I will drop by and visit a couple of your commenter too. It is always fun to see the different styles of writer that we have in the rain. CHERYL
I'm with you Kara! I wait til after all the tourists (bennies) go home, then scope out my piece of beach! Between Labor Day and memorial Day being just 10 miles from Long Beach Island is a vacation in itself.
You are soooo lucky to be only 10 miles from the shore, Laura! As long as I am within 2 1/2 hours I'm happy :) Have a good night.
My favorite vacation is Hilton Head - spent my 40th and several other great holidays. However, sisters are different for better and for worse. That's all I can say.
Kara, I am like the sister. It is all about how much can I do.
Danny - that does not surprise me at all! Just from knowing you the little bit I do so far. Have a great day :)
HI Kara!
I have been AWOL! busy with the move and have not been able to play in the rain! I just wanted to say HI! I hope all is well with you!!!
I was wondering what the heck happened to you Rob! Thanks for giving me a heads up :)
Howdy Kara
Glad that you and your sister had fun on each of Y'alls vacation's.
My lady is always getten on to me for not taken vacations.
My sister would be right with you on the beach...I would be in the mountains.
LOL - just a BIT of a difference in itineraries...but I am not surprised. I am experienced in the differences between sisters; my girlfriend is a twin, and they are NOTHING alike.
Hi Tracy - I love Hilton Head - - it is my favorite beach since I moved from Jersey.
Are you a skier Chastity? Is that what draws you to the mountains?
I have experience with twins as well, Scott. My ex is a twin (and there are two more sets of twins among him and his siblings!) Lucky you :)
Dale, you need to be taking the little misses away now and then, you know! You know the old saying....'if mama ain't happy - ain't nobody happy' hahah.
Have a great day everyone - thanks for stopping by my blog :)
Kara.. Your sister taking a side trip to Boston with the way she likes to do things, won't be a "SIDE" trip. There is so much to do there, that you can do a week in Boston, and not cover everything.
BTW.. I just learned something new. I've been going to the Cape for years.. and I never knew there was a potato chip factory. Hmmm.
Ahhhh - now you will have something NEW to see next time you go to the Cape Valerie! :) I really dont' know what they were going to do in Boston, but I'm sure it was a jam packed day, haha. Have a good night :)
