The Festival is wrapping up today. The Polo Match yesterday was very exciting. And it was a Skins match - so each chukker was played separate - and the score was started fresh - with the winning team (of each chukker) sharing a $1000 prize!.,
It ended up being a split. The WHITE team took chukker 1 and 3, and the BLUE team won chukker 2 and 4. All were very close -and very exciting. and NO INJURIES is the best part!!
Here is a shot of the polo action
It moves pretty fast - and the field is HUGE (the largest playing field of ALL organized sports) - so it is not easy to get a picture (with my amateur equipment that is, lol)
Aiken Polo Club will have polo EVERY Sunday at 3pm from now till November :) Games played at the historic Whitney Polo Field , Mead Avenue, Aiken, SC. Come and see what Aiken is all about.
I wasn't born here, but Aiken feels like home. Come see for yourself! What are you waiting for?

Be sure to mention that you saw my blog :)

Hi Kara ... I think the pic is a terrific action shot. I've never understood Polo nor have I seen it played, but it does look exciting.
Hi Marie, and thanks :) it is the only good one I managed to get, haha. If you want to learn more about polo - check my tag cloud for 'polo 101'
Have a great day :)
Kara.. It looks like a wonderful time was had by all. I hope you enjoyed the day too. Your pictures are wonderful, you should take pictures professionally.
Looks like everyone had a great time! I love horses and actually ride and show dressage. My trainer lives in Aiken...or Williston, which is right outside of Aiken. I always love coming to your beautiful and historic area and am so jealous of the thriving horse world you have there.
Oh Valerie thank you for the compliment on my photos! It definitely was a fun day :)
Hi Tracy! If you have a show in the area let me know - I'd love to come and see! I trained with a lady out in the Windsor/Williston area. Also dressage :) I haven't gone in awhile.... I'm not that good, lol. I trot/post and canter by accident, haha. (I think my favorite moves are 'leg yields')
Thanks for stopping by y'all - have a great day :)
Hi Kara,
I have never watched a match but it must be really exciting. Have a great Monday.
Thanks Paddy - yes, it can be exciting :)
Wow - what an awesome action shot! The closest I've come to a Polo Game is in a movie - i'd love to see one 'live'...:-)
Good Morning Liz. Thanks! I was hooked after the first live match I saw :) Have a great day!
Hey Kara good shot as usual!
Marie & Paddy: there are polo matches at Mashomack Hunt Club in Amenia, NY - near Millbrook and in Saratoga both during the Season and with Skidmore College. College Polo is very exciting, they play with no reserve.
For anyone else that would like to see a match, Use the "Clubs & Club Finder" tab on the www.us-polo.orgsite to find other clubs near you! (Maybe Kara will add a tailgate menu suggestion blog to her 101 series.)
Thanks for the info Jane Page :) you are a plethora of knowledge! I hear ya on the tailgate menu - that could be alot of fun! Why don't we both do one? See you in the morning.
I've never witnessed a live polo match and it looks like fun! I'll have to check one out.
Hi Ted! How have you been? You should check one out if you can find one near you. Jane Page provided a link to search for clubs.... www.uspolo.org (use the 'clubs & club finder' tab!)
Have a great day, good to hear from you again :)
