Adopt a Rescue Dog :)

If you are looking for a dog - please consider adopting a rescue dog.    Look for a place in your county.

Danny & Ron run a rescue, and recently adopted out their 1000th dog :)    MOST OF THESE DOGS (800)  WERE RESCUED FROM HURRICANE KATRINA.

Their operation is TOTALLY NON-PROFIT - they just don't want to see any more dogs be put down.

They go and rescue these pups from the mills and just want to find good homes for them.

They take them home and care for them until a 'forever family' is found :)

They recently were awarded with an ASPCA Award.

Visit their website to learn more about them..and to see some of the pups that are available.

They are located near Camden SC -  and you may see them (and the pups) at a horse show near you!

So -  how did I hear about these guys?      Well, the other day I was working at the office and the family of an associate stopped by.  In the little girls arms was the cutest puppy I have ever seen.   His name is Hitchcock.   And they call him 'Hitch' for short.      He is named after Hitchcock Woods.  (check my blog tags for Hitchcock Woods)

I asked where they got him and this is how I heard about Danny and Ron.

Here is a picture of Hitch with his proud mama Caroline :)

     Cute huh!

I wasn't born in Aiken but it sure feels like home.   Come see for yourself!  What are you waiting for?!

I usually get rescue dogs and even when I get them from a home they are mixed breeds.  I am a true believer in trying to save an animal from a dismal fate.  Great post.

I have one rescue dog now and I had one when I was working at the pound (not quite the same a a Humane Society) after college in Oxford, MS. They make wonderful dogs and there are rescue groups if you want a particular breed. This is a great post to bring attention to an important issue. I thank you and all the dogs looking for a good home thank you!

Hitch wants to thank you for the great PR.  Adopting him was one of the best moves we ever made.

I know Danny and Ron will appreciate spreading the news of their good works!

Hi GENE-  they are doing a terrific job!  thanks

Hi LAURA - I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT , I LOVE IT! -- what a great saying!!

Hey PADDY - I'm not a dog person, but I love cats...and I agree--- if we can save a life we have to!

Hi RICH - you are welcome!  that must have been hard to work at the pound - I would be bringing them all home, lol.

Hey DANNY:  I'm with you.  Hard to walk away from them.

Hi GIRL! (Georgianna- for those paying attention - and yes...she goes by 'Girl'! )Anyway - your mom told me she was passing on the link - and I texted Randy so he could pop it up on his I-Phone and show Caroline :)    Hitch is sooo cute.   Thanks for stopping by.   It is my pleasure to spread the word!   See you later.

Kara ~ Great post, and for a Great Cause! I'm a firm believer as your other posters, that adoption is a great way to go.  Help save a life and better your own at the same time!! Dogs are great friends and companions, and have nothing but unconditional love for a loving master.  Suzi

Kara-You are a very special kind of person to get the message out about rescue dogs and highlighting the awesome work that Danny and Ron do. All my babies are rescued babies and I think the last one came from a puppy mill. Here are 2 links to my rescued fur babies.

Hi Kara, I am at my vacation home in Vermont and stopped into the local animal shelter here yesterday to visit and make a donation (I will be writing a blog on them soon to give them some free advertising).  I have volunteered at the shelter in the past and walked dogs when I have been up here.  One year I bought twenty of their fund raising calendars to give as holiday gifts.  All of my 'kids' have been rescues.  Anything for the animals!
