These Girls Can Kick - And I'm Not Talking About The Rockettes

We just received the newest issue of Sports Illustrated and I had to share this with you ....

sports illustrated magazine cover

Check out these two 'local' girls!   (Pelion is in Lexington County - our neighboring County to the North!)

two girls get noticed in sports illustrated

Elizabeth Mitchum, Kaci Poole - - - - PELION, SC > Football

Elizabeth (far left) and Kaci, junior kickers at Pelion High, are believed to be the first two girls to score points for the same team in a varsity football game; on Sept. 12 each kicked an extra point in a 42-13 victory over Wagener-Salley.

I just got off the phone with Coach Ben Freeman of the Fighting Panthers Football Team, Pelion High School.    He tells me that both of these girls were soccer players and they just decided they wanted to kick :)    and boy can they kick.

Elizabeth has a strong leg and is the starter!!  She has made 13 out of 14 extra point attempts.   Kaci has had two chances to kick and made one of them - the one we read about in Sports Illustrated :)

These young ladies are very talented, that's for sure!  WAY TO GO GIRLS!!!!!   I AM SO PROUD OF YOU BOTH :)     Keep it up and I'll be looking for y'all in the NFL in a few years.   You both R-O-C-K!!      I hope you both make the varsity team next year!

When did I start getting Sports Illustrated?  I think girl power is great, where they clothed?  Pelion has one of the Country's largest nudist colonies.

haha - you are too funny Jane Page.  Remember when you said to order sports illustrated..so I ordered you a year subscription....but you meant to order a bunch of copies of the issue with Palmetto Golf Club in it!  And I was gonna cancel the subscription but you said to just let it ride for the year and that Brenda could take it home for Tony.   Remember?    Is their really a nudist colony in Pelion?  They don't have any beaches there do they?!

Good question Cherimie!  I wonder what the townsfolk are sayin bout them girls :)   I think it is awesome!

Kara, that's our neighboring county, too!  They make 'em tough in Pelion, evidently, and pretty.

Apparently they do make 'em tough over there Charlie, lol.  They are both beautiful....I would have guessed Cheerleaders - - NOT players :)

Hi Ted - thanks - they certainly are awesome!

My sister was thinking of signing her daughter up for charm school. The plans fell through when she took on another commitment- playing on the football team. I prefer her choice.
