The old antique store on Park Avenue is being demolished. Well, it is already leveled - they started tearing it down a couple weeks ago. Now they are working on the footers and the slab. I've been watching them everyday! Lucky for me they are working right next door to our office :)
Well, the other morning Bob let me 'work' the excavater - it was the coolest! Soooo- I'm thinking, if you can't sell them, you might as well tear them down, haha. Just kidding!
It was alot of fun to work the bucket - and swing the doo dad, lol. - yeah - I don't get real technical.
Here is the site:
taking down the old antique store. Their new location is on Laurens Street - just around the corner.

This machine in the picture above is pretty big. Now look at it in the picture below next to the even bigger machine, lol

This is what I got to drive! The BIG ONE! The JCB. OMG!! When you turn the key on - you can feel the power all the way from your toes right up to the top of your head :) It was amazing - I want to do it again. (and Bob said I could, lol)
This machine is so big that I needed a 'step up' just to reach the 'step up', lol. They pulled out a piece of rubble and I used it like a mounting block for a horse, haha. I wasn't sure I could get up there with this gall bladder pain but Bob and Robert were very helpful! Thanks guys :)
As soon as Bob and his sons are done with the demo, the next crew will come in and this is what they are going to build:

Give me a call if you want more info! These are going to be awesome downtown units :)

Lisa Lisa Lisa, lol - you are too funny, girl!
I didn't get to 'work it' today - hopefully tomorrow :) Looks like they will be done in a day or two.
Hi Kara-That did look like a lot of fun. I hope your gallbladder pain gets better. I had a old boyfriend that used to operate those big old things(real tech talk here). Did you have fun in Aiken with all the happenings. Look forward to chatting with you again
Smashing things are a lot of fun, no worry no care, just smash.
Richard
so true Richard. It was really amazing at how fast the buildings came down...considering how long it takes to put them up, lol.
Thank you Pat, I hope so too. We certainly have had some happenings - unfortunately I haven't been getting to them :( Someone did bring me a candy apple from the fair ! - it was very sweet of them :)
I will have to fight the urge to comment... Because this is a public site!!!
BLUE!
hi Rob. ummmmm... Pink? lol.
I get another turn at the controls tomorrow - yaaay!!!
Kara.. How do we truly know you were in one? I don't see a picture of you in one. LOL. I'm only kidding, I hope you know this.
See, it is cool to try new things. Are you going to put this on your resume?
haha - I know you're kidding Valerie! - but I will have to get a pic today for sure :) as far as adding it to my resume -- heck yes, lol.
Kara is an execellent operator!! She handles those big toys oh so well!!
Kara, here is to not having to run that excavator and selling what is forthcoming. 2009 is going to be a great year for us all.
Hey Robert! Thanks for stopping by :) I hope you are enjoying my blog. It was nice to see y'all yesterday. Whenever you need my help, just give me a call - it was soooo awesome operating that big toy, hehehe. Hi to your dad and David :)
Hi Eric, how you been? I would much rather be at closings than up on that rig, but it doesn't hurt to have a back-up plan! I just don't think the Chaplin men are taking me serious!
